Total GSM Subscribers Figure Reached 679.05 Million for July

The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has just now displayed the GSM Subscriber Figures for the month of July, 2012. The gross figure of the GSM Subscriber climbed up to 679.05 million with the addition of 1.70 million new GSM customers in the month of July, 2012. This brought along a 0.25% increase in comparison to the previous month while Bharti Airtel made additions of a total of 1.50 million new GSM customers in July and this made the total rise to 188.81 million. With this Airtel became the leader of telecom operators having maximum GSM customers. The details are displayed in the below embedded graphs.

As cited in the graphs above, Vodafone made additions of about a 1.20 million GSM customers in July and this took the customers figure to 154.91 million. On grounds of the information of the previous month, Vodafone had a market share of about 22.81% on 31st July 2012. Idea, the third leading telecom operator of the nation made additions of 0.45 million new GSM customer making the figure rise to 117.62 million while it had a market share of 17.32% in July.

But the emerging telecom operator named Aircel made addition of about a 0.28 million customers which took the totl to 65.16 million users. After the toting up of particular figure of customers in the early months, the operators like Uninor and Videocon being affected by the February 2 verdict o the Supreme Court, witnessed a downfall in figure of customers. Uninor, one of the well known telecom operator lost a total of 1.08 customers which decreased the figure of total customers to 44.50 million by July 2012. At the same time Videocon had a loss of about 0.42 million customers and the customers’ base accounted to 5.16 million.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the state owned telecom operator and the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) could not progress with an improvement and their customers’ base rested at 94.68 million and 5.23 million, respectively.
