Lenovo’s Windows RT Tablet PCs Likely to be Cheaper Up to $300 than Windows 8

A lot of rumors are circulating around regarding the price of Surface tablet of Microsoft which also includes gossip that its Windows RT version is likely to be priced low up to $199. Well, now the 2nd largest PC retailer named as Lenovo, grants various ideas regarding the price of these tablets which run on the Windows 8 operating system of Microsoft. The details are discussed below.

The head of the North American operations of Lenovo, David Schmoock said that he estimates that Windows RT OS powered tablets of the company is likely to be priced between $200 to $300 and this is cheaper when compared to the Windows 8 powered devices. The appropriate tablet running the Windows 8 OS and capable of running the Windows software are estimated to be priced between $600 and $700.

Devices running Windows RT are the tablets which are powered by the ARM architecture chipsets from two giant chipmaker companies namely Qualcomm and Nvidia. At the same time, the Windows 8 Pro devices are likely to run on the customary x86 platform powered by Intel and AMD processors. Microsoft, the giant software company is targeting to have a tuff competition with the Apple’s iPad and a few Samsung’s Android tablets with its Windows RT devices.

The Windows 8 Pro devices are expected to compete with the MacBooks and iMacs of Apple. In terms of the price range, the Surface won’t be able to survive in the competition if its price is set cheaper than the present iPad lineup starting at $499. The price is not only the factor on which the success of Windows RT tablets depend but the number applications available during the launch on October 26 matters.
