This time the official screenshots of the upcoming Firefox OS of Mozilla are available and this brings a close view of its features too. It is barely two weeks that the first number of screenshots of the platform was published in the web and now the official ones have come up. We had earlier discussed about Firefox with Desktop Builds, Refurbished Firefox with HTML5 and Firefox 2. Well, these screenshots of the upcoming Firefox OS were published by a technical evangelist for Mozilla named as Robert Nyman a few hours before.
These screenshots convey that the work is in progress. According to Nyman, the platform has been inspired a lot from the Android OS of Google and some and some rudiments of the iOS platform of Apple. Nyman also does warn saying that the work being in progress, the screenshots keep on changing. The details of the official screenshots and the OS are discussed below and you can have a glance at the image embedded below.
Currently, the Firefox OS structure has a lookout of collective ideas from different platforms. How is that? Well, the layout of homescreen has four icons ported at the bottom and this is alike to the User Interfaces developed post iOS. The icons being circular or round in shape is seem common to the Nokia Belle. Like the Google’s Android, it features a drop-down notification bar and also has the same kind of system shortcut buttons found in the TouchWiz UI based Android smartphones of Samsung. The settings menu too looks like the layout in the Android platform. In fact, there is difference in the layout of the open tabs but nothing interesting too.
Fairly, the screenshots of Mozilla do not depict the final version of the User Interface and moreover, it seems to be inspired rather than inspiring. There are a lot of hopes that the major difference will be with its kind of hardware that is likely to run the OS and there are expectations of much lower system requirements in comparison to the entry-level Android smartphone.
