Microsoft, the giant software company has made announcements regarding the Windows 8 App Fest which is to place in India. The company announced the Windows 8 App Fest, world’s largest app fest which is scheduled to place on the 21st and 22nd of September, 2012 at the KTPO, Bangalore. This fest is a global event and is open for the developer community worldwide. The details are discussed below.

This Windows 8 App Fest is a continuous 18-hour-long software jam event where developers from various parts of the world will put efforts to design, build, test as well as submit applications. The staffs of Microsoft will also help the developers who develop their apps this event. The apps of the developers being successful will be submitted to the Windows Store.

There will be more than 20 categories on basis of which the developers will be building apps and the categories include food, finance productivity, books, social, photo, music and video and shopping. One of the versions of the Windows 8 named as the Release to Manufacturing (RTM) version of Microsoft will be provided to the developers who participate in the App Fest. The participating developers are allowed to team of four people along with them in order to develop amazing apps.

The Chairman of Microsoft, India, Bhaskar Pramanik, said, “The AppFest will be a memorable and unique opportunity to mingle with Microsoft engineers, programming specialists, trainers, and industry-recognised app developers to drive innovation globally.” This is a great chance for developers to bring a wide change to the apps ecosystem for Windows 8 platform across a number of devices and hardware equipments. Developers will be able to carry out their work with ease as Windows 8 is compatible to many coding languages as well as devices.
