In this week, Face book has made announcements about its plans to buy or purchase the Lightbox and this purchase is likely to top the Instagram purchase too. Recently, this giant social networking site, the Facebook had made the purchase of the Instagram which had grabbed an account of $1 billion dollar grab of Instagram and came up just after the company’s summer IPO. This action and movement has made the lightbox.com to shut down upcoming sign-ups instantly and the existing users are granted a final chance to download back all their collection of Photos before the 15th of June.

When I browsed in to the Lightbox.com, I found a notice in the homepage of the website which said “Lightbox is joining Facebook! The Lightbox team is joining Facebook. This means we’re no longer accepting new signups. If you’re an existing user, you can continue to use Lightbox.com until June 15” Hence, the website has stopped accepting new sign-ups and has ordered the existing users to use the site till June 15 and also download back their photos before the time. Facebook’s purchase is not including the Lightbox Company or any of the user data of the company but only the Lightbox team or staffs are joining Facebook.

According to Lightbox.com, the site will be open sourcing some of the portions of the code written by the staffs for Lightbox and will be posting them to Github repository in the coming weeks. The giant Facebook is going to have a victorious win as it is now acquiring two biggest mobile photography groups namely the Instagram and now the Lightbox. The lightbox team announced that it is happy and excited to join Facebook so that they can have the opportunity to develop amazing and stunning products for the 500+ million mobile users of Facebook.

This purchase will bring a great successful future for Facebook as the Lightbox team is added to the efficiently powerful developers of Facebook as well as the Android and HTML5 platforms. Remember, Facebook is not at all purchasing your Lightbox content of the past but this Summer of 2012 purchase is all about the staff members. Now, if you are looking forward to download all your contents and photos in Lightbox, you can log on to lightbox.com/login?next=/export and download. Make sure to Download your content before the 15th of June.
