Various rumors are floating around the internet regarding the dock connector of iPhone 5. Recently 9to5mac has claimed that iPhone 5 to come with smaller 9-pin dock connector. They have discovered reference to 9-pin dock connector in iOS 6 beta. Now French site Nowhereelse.fr is claiming that iPhone 5 will come with MagSafe Like dock connector. Nowhereelse.fr has posted a photo of iPhone 5 casing that reveals MagSafe-like dock connector. You can see the photo posted below.

The above photo clearly shows a metal ring across the smaller dock connector. It indicates that Apple will use MagSafe-like dock connector in iPhone 5. It may work as a magnetic attachment mechanism. Now you must be thinking why Apple will use MagSafe-like dock connector in iPhone 5. According to Macrumors, iPhone 5 users will be able to insert the cable in either orientation with the help of MagSafe-like dock connector. Recently Reuters has claimed that Apple will replace the 30-pin dock connector with 19-pin dock connector in iPhone 5 to make room for the earphone jack that will be available at the bottom of the device. Then, iLounge has claimed that Apple will use 8-pin dock connector in iPhone 5. Recently Chinese-language newspaper, Apple Daily has claimed that the height of iPhone 5 will be 123.83 mm, its width will be 58.47 mm and its thickness will be 7.6mm. Recently ETrade Supply has made a comparison between iPhone 5 front panel and iPhone 4S front panel, which reveals that the new iPhone will come with 4-inch display and it will be thinner than the current generation iPhone.

You should note that the launch date iPhone 5 is not officially announced yet. Recently iMore has claimed that Apple will hold a special event on September 12th to announce iPhone 5. It is expected that iPhone 5 will be launched in September. It is expected to come with 4 inch screen, A5X Processor, 1GB RAM, Qualcomm LTE 4G Chip, new antenna, retina display, Siri, aluminum back, thinner design, and metallic casing.
