iOS 6 Beta Reveals iPhone 5 will Feature 9-Pin Dock Connector
Recently Reuters has claimed that Apple will replace the 30-pin dock connector with 19-pin dock connector in iPhone 5 to make room for the earphone jack that will be available at the bottom of the device. Then, iLounge has claimed that Apple will use 8-pin dock connector in iPhone 5. Now iOS 6 beta reveals that iPhone 5 will come with 9-pin dock connector. According to 9to5mac, they have found reference to 9-pin dock connector in the beta version of iOS 6. 9to5mac has also posted a screenshot, which shows reference to 9-pin dock connector in iOS 6 beta.
From the above picture, you can see a line that displays “DeviceSupports9Pin.” It indicates that iPhone 5 will feature 9-Pin Dock Connector instead of 30-pin dock connector. It coincides with the previous rumor, which has claimed that Apple will use smaller dock connector in iPhone 5. The above screenshot reveals that the smaller dock connector will include 9 pins. 9to5mac has claimed that the reference to 9-pin dock connector has been available since the 1st beta version of iOS 6. iOS 6 Beta 1 was released just after the announcement of iOS 6 at WWDC, iOS 6 Beta 2 was released on June 25th, iOS 6 Beta 3 was released on July 16th and Apple had released iOS 6 Beta 4 on 6th of August. Recently iMore has claimed that Apple will launch an adapter for the smaller 19-pin dock connector of iPhone 5 that will allow current generation iPhone users to use their accessories with iPhone 5.
You should note that Apple has been using 30-pin dock connector in iPhone since 2003. For the first time, Apple will use 9-pin dock connector in iPhone 5. Still Apple has not provided any information regarding the launch date of iPhone 5. Recently iMore has claimed that iPhone 5 will be launched after nine days of its announcement. It will be announced on September 12th at a special event. Apple is expected to launch iPhone 5 on Friday, September 21st.
